ImInclusive Team and Advisory Committee members strongly encourage all ImInclusive beneficiaries and stakeholders: People of Determination, caregivers, families, siblings and all in the field of inclusion to nurture their personal mental health. UAE publicly offers mental health support services listed below:
1. FREE, Taalouf Initiative (by the UAE Ministry of Community Development), 800623
The Ministry of Community Development (MOCD) launched the Taalouf (Harmony) initiative, a family counseling service provided through a variety of private channels that guarantee confidentiality in order to resolve family disputes, offer guidance to married couples, and ensure family cohesion.
Free phone line: The Taalouf family counseling channels include a free phone line – 800623 – that is open for inquiries from Sunday to Thursday from 8am to 2:30pm. The line is staffed by specialized consultants that propose solutions to family issues and advise callers how to maintain positive relations within the family. The service is available to all members of the public without distinction.
One-on-one sessions: Furthermore, MOCD has set up dedicated spaces at its social development centers to provide one-on-one sessions with family counselors. Ideal for people who wish to discuss their problems face to face in a private setting, the service is already running on select days of the week across seven centers in Dubai, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Ras al-Khaimah, Fujairah, and Khor Fakkan.
Website: The Ministry has also created a page on its website www.mocd.gov.ae that responds to family counseling queries within one business day.
2. FREE, Emirates Foundation Mental Health Support line 800-HOPE
Launched by the National Program for Happiness & Wellbeing in support of the National Volunteering Campaign, the Mental Support Line provides a safe and confidential mental support to individuals who are impacted, both directly and indirectly, by COVID-19. From 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily, individuals can whatsapp or call the number 8004673 to connect with a volunteer and speak to them.
3. FREE, Istijaba Hotline 800 1717 Abu Dhabi
Department of Community Development Abu Dhabi encourages individuals to call the hotline without any hesitation, since their information will be subject to patient privacy and confidentiality rules, noting that the mental health support as part of the Istijaba hotline will be available in many languages, including Arabic, English, Hindi, French, Malayalam, and Tamil, to ensure that many social segments can benefit from this initiative. This helps enhance their mental health by providing appropriate psychological guidance to protect and integrate them into the community with optimism. The Istijaba call center, which is associated with DoH’s Medical Operations Command Center, provides its services 24/7 in Arabic and English through the toll-free number 800 1717 or +971 800 1717 when calling from outside the UAE.
